    This video is somehow disgusting. Smearing the paint with black rubber gloves on a clear glass? This simulates nothing relating to applying oil paint to a canvas or panel. And then that stale 1950's jazz in the background. I might like the paint, but this demo doesn't inspire at all.

    Thank you for this video. 1) Please explain what you meant when you said your were using a limited palette in painting the egg. 2) What were the colors, and why did you say they comprised a *limited palette?* 3) Is there such thing as an *UNlimited* palette? I hear the term *limited palette* thrown around so loosely. It’s rather *confusing.* 4) Does the term “limited palette” have *multiple* meanings? 5) What is *your* meaning of the term “limited palette?” I really hope that you will clarify and answer my five questions! 😊

    This program needs an online admin who understands the needs of the audience. Consistent titles that have the series and year and dates, easy access, and put the series in one place rather than all over the place with landscapes and house hunting. Such a mishmash does not give justice to this great show 😞

  • @SaltNBattery

    If any of this were true, all paint would be expensive. Acrylic paints and most paint in general use the same pigments. That’s not the case. They charge more for oil paints because they can and oil paints have “always been expensive”, which is why every justification always uses history as a rationalization for robbery.

  • @SaltNBattery
    @SaltNBattery 7 місяців тому

    “Historically pigments were very hard to discover, acquire and transport. Oil paints used to be hand made in tiny batches. Today they’re not. (Check out this B-Roll of the giant vats of paint that’s been almost completely automated. What used to take weeks or months, now takes minutes and hours. The very same pigments that people risked their lives for and journeyed across the globe for months on dangerous ships can now be next day mailed to your doorstep. In fact they’ve discovered thousands of other pigments that are exponentially cheaper and easier to obtain, they work identically. Which is why you can buy a gallon of paint for the same price as a tiny tube. Objectively, house paint, auto paint and spray paint is harder to manufacture than oil paints used for art. At this point, scamming and price gouging is a tradition in the Art Industry. We’re scamming you and there’s nothing you can do about it.” Lol, just like the subjective arbitrary “value” of fine art, the same scam is pulled on artists today.

    Hello, what is the ratio of water to acrylic ink that you use for the spray bottles? Thanks in advance!

    • @That1HippieChick
      @That1HippieChick 9 місяців тому

      She says here she’s using 50/50, so equal parts water to ink. I would start with two parts ink to one part water. The more water you add the lighter and more translucent the color will become. Acrylic inks are typically thin enough to spray as is, but can clog your sprayer because the pigment particles, and the binder will cause your sprayer to get sticky when the ink is exposed to air and starts to dry. There’s not really any correct ratio, it’s more what you prefer for your project. Experiment 😊✌️🎨
